My computer has crashed & this is the 3rd time this has happened.
I am currently using Vista Ultimate The computer is a generic type that I built myself
The last message was “system disc missing” I ran the windows CD and tried to repair but the computer always hangs. When I ctrl/alt/del it starts with” INVALID PARTITION TABLE”
The only way I have overcome this problem in the past is to setup a new hard drive running Vista using the crashed drive as a slave, download info off crashed drive (which I can see from the main drive) on to a recordable disc. Then use the crashed drive as main and reformat (removing invalid partition) I then have to reinstall all my programmes again. This is all very time consuming. Please help. I feel that this may be a problem with Vista & have now lost all confidence with this operating system
P.S. I have tried Fixmbr Fixboot Bootrec/fixmbr
I am currently using a laptop (OS XP) so I can still run my business and receive e-mails
The drive is readable once I have rebuilt it, but I have already rebuilt it 3 times!! I can read corrupted drive as slave but I want to get rid of invalid partition table & I don't know how to This is stopping me from booting up corrupted drive as main drive
You also need to know why it has become corrupted, which is why I wondered if you could read it once it was broken. When you say rebuild, are you using a software programme to do this, will it give any information about what has change on the disc? Some thing must be creating that partition. fdisc would reformat the drive but you would lose every thing on it.
