Invalid partition table

I get this on my screen when I try to load windows after I have formatted my harddisk and reinstalled windows. I use windows XP home edition. Why do I get this message? And what can I do about it?

Can you load windows fully?

You may need to reformat / repartition the disk - boot with the XP CD and follow the options.

I'm unable to load windows. I don't know how to repartition the disk when not in windows. I have tried to reformat, but seems like I have to try both fat32 and ntfs.

Aren't there anyone who know anything about this??

What are you using to format the hdd,if its anything other than XP cd,its not creating the correct file table, hence the error. If you are using the cd to format, then I'm lost as to what else you could try.
