Invalid Disk Table in Boot Record

Have a problem highlighted by Norton Disk Doctor - "Invalid Disk Table in Boot Record" do you want to repair? - clicked yes - says it's fixing the DOS Boot Record, then says 'the boot record could not be repaired, unable to check rest of disk'
Any ideas about this one please?

It might need to be run in safe mode. Some disk checkers don't like other programs running or any other disk access while they work.

Have you got the Norton Flopy Disc's. If not all you need is put a Floppy disc in comp right click the drive Properties\format then choose include system files so it creates a system boot disc then go to the norton program folder andcopy the Ndd32.exe file to the floppy disc start the comp with the disc then at A:\> type Ndd32 and press enter it should run Norton Disc Doctor in DOS then check C: with it

Tried that - it says 'this programme cannot be run in DOS'

Any other ideas please?
