Win 7 machine. Netgear router seems to connect to internet - can connect other laptops and ipod via wireless, but desktop machine will not open any browsers. Just get page not found. Desktop has no wireless card - only has ethernet to modem.

How are you sure that your connection to the router is working. Have you changed the cable just to check.

Left click on the Network connection icon in the Task Are (bottom right) then click on Open network and sharing centre.

Click on the network name and see if you are connected to the network.

Have you set a working DNS in Internet Protocol ipv4 in the Properties. Try and as this is Googles DNS server.

Hi alanrwood. Looks like you were right about the cable. O borrowed an identical modem and plugged this in the the machine. It worked. Thn unplugged it and plugged in the old modem. This has now started working again. Many thanks.
