internet timeout problem

why can i only access the internet immediately after a boot up. 30 mins after, both ie6 and firefox timeout and I have to reboot to continue.

I am using xp and broadband connection which is ok as i can still send and receive emails

Check your lan card setting

Lan Card Setting

Right click on Local Area Connection Display Icon on task bar

Click Status-General-Properties

At the top of display the type of Lan card will be displayed

Click Configure-Click-Advanced Tab

Click- Flow Control-Change to Enabled if Disabled

Click-Power Management Tab

Untick if selected "Allow Computer to turn this device off to save power

Other Network Connection Setting

Click-Start- Setting-Network Connection-New Connection Wizard

Select-Connect to the Internet-Next

Select-Set Up My Connection Manually-Next

Select-Connect using a broadband connection that is always on

when i look at lan card setting my choice is ISDN CHANNEL alcatel speedtouch.

From this i get no option re flow control. I would if i used the modem setting which i am not using
