I checked today and found the following error message in the Date and Time Properties/Internet Time`An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.nist.gov`I tried again with `time.windows.com` with the same result. On reopening the Properties window, I found a further message telling me that, `Windows has never attempted to synchronize with an internet time server.`Can anyone provide any information on this and a cure for the problem? Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks very much for responding.I knew I should have done a search first!!!!!Now fully up and running. As an aside I did a Google search and apparently a lot of people have had problems with nist.gov. Indications are that it has stopped doing updates for some reason.
I don't think a search would have been any good - it seems to have stopped bringing up threads dated later than a few weeks ago.
True. But those did indicate problems even then. I don`t look at my clock update very often; I was `pottering` when I found the messages and tried to do an update. If I hadn`t looked I probably would never have known!!!
The thing that finally allowed my computer to sync with any time servers was opening UDP port 123 outbound on my firewall. As soon as I did that they all worked like a champ.
