Internet Gateway ALWAYS disabled?

  Re-staw 17:08 04 Mar 10

Hi, im having trouble connecting my xbox 360 to LIVE and im almost positive its because the Internet Gateway refuses to enable.

The reason for this is because my brothers laptop (which allows the xbox to connect) has the exact same settings except his internet gateway says connected instead of constantly disabled.

Heres what it looks like:

If i could just enable the Gateway to see if this resolves the issue i can at least tick that off the list :)

In the screenshot, the Wireless Network Connection has been "shared". When Internet Connection Sharing was enabled on that connection, Windows will have given the Local Area Connection the IP address and Subnet Mask - there are no Default Gateway or DNS Server addresses because that connection isn't connecting to the internet, the wireless one is.

The Xbox should be configured to get its addresses automatically, which it does by DHCP from the Laptop. It will get an IP address between and with Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS server

It is important that the Router to which the Laptop is connected doesn't also operate in the same Subnet (IP address range). If its IP address is this needs to be changed so that its third 'octet' (number) is something other than 0, for example or etc.
