Internet Explorer Settings - Won't open new window

  Bestselling Author 11:59 01 Feb 06

I've just bought a new laptop, and am experiencing a small but niggling problem with Internet Explorer. Whenever I click on a link that opens a page in a new window, IE opens the window and then automatically closes the old window, so I've only got one IE window open at any one time.

I know there must be tick box somewhere that allows me to change it, but I've searched Internet Options and can't find anything! Anyone able to point me in the right direction? (PS - all my other MS applications allow multiple windows - it's just Internet Explorer!)

Try this:

tools, internet options, advanced, restore defaults.

Hi Diodorus

No, I've already tried that one - it didn't work. Any other ideas?

Tools, internet options, advanced take the tick out of reuse windows

Repair IE - may work?

Repair IE did not work. Found another forum on the web which suggested removing Yahoo toolbar from PC. Done that and everything working fine now.

Not a sultion I was expecting, but definitely a solution!

Could be a setting in the yahoo toolbar which stops popups and new windows opening - instead it uses the current window.
