Internet Explorer (6) dialing 0909 numbers

  machins 06:32 15 Oct 03

I recently received a hefty phone bill and on investigation found when on Explorer it was dialing an 0909 (premium rate) number.
Obviously something has got into to the IE configuration but how do I remove it please?

Sounds like you may have been the victim of a dialler scam. Download adaware click here & spybot click here. Once youv'e installed them get the latest updates, then run them one after the other. They both detect spyware, but sometimes one gets what the other misses.

You can also try typing 'dialer exe.' into the find files feature or manually looking through the programme file on your HD. The previous suggestions are your best bet and a quick search will bring up anything that has been left behind.

and as a 'long-stop' get BT to prevent all premium numbers being dialled from your phone.
