On trying to access some web sites (?using javascript)the page opens briefly then IE closes down. I am running XP. Any ideas?

Try a repair click here

I gave the 3rd option a try but it threw up "Error loading setupwbv.dll The specified module could not be found"

What do I do?

Try a reinstall perhaps...

Presumably you don't have an XP CD to try options 1 and 2?

  tedders 22:58 03 Mar 04

Not having much luck with this.I tried option 2 and it said that I needed "IEXPLORE.EXE" from the CD - but it isn't on the CD!

I have a Dell PC that came with XP installed.

Try Option 1, assuming that Dell provided you with an XP CD.

If not, try installing IE from a cover disk.

Try running IE6 Setup from a Magazine CD. Choose the Custom Setup

It sounds to me as if a popup-stopper is running.
Try holding down your Control key or possibly your Shift key as you click on the shortcut.

I have just reread your posting and may have got hold of the wrong end of the stick, however it still sounds as if a program is over-riding the Java script and causing an error, maybe a firewall.

As often happens, wait a day and try again. Repair worked. Many thanks for the help.
