Internet drop

I hope someone out there can help me. I am a subscriber of Virgin Media and am having numerous timeouts with my connection. I have just updated my modem to accommodate the proposed speed increase in July. At the moment my connection drops for no apparent reason; the modem reports that it is working but the error log tells a different story with numerous time outs etc. I have tried the support line with no conclusions and being charged 25p per minute.
I have a Lynksys router which has 2 pcs connected to it. If any one can help me I would be grateful as the call center seems rather vague and will only book a technician if it doesn't work.

Hi. I don't know anything about routers, But try Control Panel,Administrative Tools.Services, Scroll down to DNS Client and make sure that it is set to automatic. Or try Control Panel. Network connections.Right click local Area Connection,And press repair,See if it comes up with any problems.
