Internet dial-up connection on blueyonder

I am trying to connect to blueyonder on a dial-up connection. The message "dialling" comes up but is almost immediately followed by the message "Hanging up". The phone line is okay(it works with a telephone) and I suspect I may not be connecting the line to the right connection on the back of the computer. Can anybody give me simple instructions for making the physical connection ?

Blueyonder (now Telewest) Do you have a telewest phone line?

From this: click here it would appear you need their phone line.

No, it is a BT line but I thought it was still possible to connect to Telewest for internet. If not, can you suggest a suitable ISP ?

"If not, can you suggest a suitable ISP ?"

With dozens and dozens to choose from, that's an extremely open-ended question.

It depends on whether you want a PAYG account or a fixed monthly payment no limit account.

If your usage is going to be "not very much" then a PAYG might suit. If you are going to be a medium/heavy user then you might be better off with Broadband. Dial up monthly accounts (like AOL for example) are roughly the same as you would pay for Broadband.

The ISPs on Jackcoms link are Broadband connections though, not dial-up. But most, if not all, might offer a dial-up service.
