Internet Connection Disconnect Freeze

  SURVEY 13:50 19 Nov 04

On my laptop running Windows 98SE and Freeserve (Wanadoo) I am experiencing a freeze when disconnecting my Internet connection. The only way to deal with this is to switch off, as Ctrl/Alt/Delete does not work. The freeze does not always occur but happens more often than not. I am using Norton Antivirus 2002. Are there any settings I can tweak to ensure that there is a ‘clean’ disconnection?

Thanks Acolyte. But nothing else is running. This can happen whether Explorer is solely running or Outlook Express. Just does not appear to want to give up the connection without a fight. Does disconnect but as you say, locks up computer.
