internet connection and browser problem

  silversurf 18:03 28 Sep 09

I am using Vista Home premium and the problem is identical whether I use IE, Firefox or Google Chrome.

When starting Windows I usually have immediate access to the internet but after a period although access is maintained for mail I am unable to open websites through any of the browsers. The icon indicates that I am connected.

The only way I have been able to correct the situation is to restart Windows but it does take an age for Windows to close down and on accasions I have resorted to forced closure.

I am using Orange Livebox which is connected by LAN and have reset the box without improvement.

Any help or ideas will be gratefully received.

Maybe you should check your Proxy settings.

As it happens YES to Zone Alarm.

Am using version ZoneAlarm version:

Do you know of a problem with this version which I think is the latest.

causes the problem that you describe with Vista on some Pcs.

You need to unsinstall that one and install the one above that is Vista specific. If at some point in the future ZA tells you that an update is available ignore it until they find a fix.

It's a known issue; your problem is common and identical to the one I had. It'll be fine once you have followed the above.

HAve followed your lead and hopefully all will be well.

Many thanks. Would love to know how you found this out.

trial and elimination susie and a chance look at the Zome Alarm forum where others had the same issue.

Hope you get it sorted.
