Internet connection

I am using a standard internet connection, not Broadband, with the modem cable directly connected to the telephone socket. Instead of using this cable connection I understand there is another way of being connected between the computer and the telephone socket. Could someone give me advise on this please. Thanks

Not sure what you mean there mate the modem has to connect to the phone socket for it to work with a dial up modem. Could you give us a better idea of what you mean?

Sorry for not explaining this correctly. I am thinking of being able to connect a wireless type modem to the phone socket and obtaining a wireless connection to the computer from the modem. Is this possible for standard internet connections that are not Broadband?
