I run Windows 98 with upgrades to Internet Explorer 6.0 & Outlook express 6.0.
My telephone connection is down a BT line via Ist Telecom.
How can I configure my modem to dial a 4 figure code to access the Ist Telecom site and then wait 5 seconds for a dialling tone before dialling my ISP?
Yours etc,
Gerry Barker

Put the access code in first, followed by five commas, then the number. The modem doesn't need to wait for dialling tone.

Thank you for the info'.Unfortunately under the "Connections" tab in "SETTINGS" - "INTERNET OPTIONS" the area code box will not accept my 4 digit access code ahead of the area code number.
Also it will not accept the access code only and then the full number in the "number" box.

Use the box without the area code box and then type in the access number, commas and then the telephone number on the one clear box.

I think that's what [email protected]@m is also trying to convey.

Your access code is not an area number..
