Is the internet being upgraded or not?

Hi,

I've been hearing all this stuff about the broadband companies upping the internet speed for free. NTL are supposed to do it over the summer aren't they? Does anyone have any reliable information and is it really free of charge? On the ntl website, they are already selling 300k for 17.99 which is what I have but on 150k. I'm puzzled. Thanks in advance for any information.

Are you on a 750K connection? So that should go up to 1.5M soon, I was on 150K, now 300K.

If you go to click here there is a link to a page that gives details of free upgrades, there is then an option to put in your postcode and it will tell you approximately when the upgrade will happen in your area. I am currently on 600kbps which is due to increase to 750kbps 'during August'
my results from the earlier post:

3rd 128K took 1969 ms = 66568 Bytes/sec = approx 554 kbits/sec
