Hello Now choosing the memory for this new machine everything was all matched until i noticed the specification within the Intel Intel Sandybridge i5-2400 3.10GHz details.

The intel webpage I am looking at is here http://ark.intel.com/products/52207/Intel-Core-i5-2400-Processor-(6M-Cache-3_10-GHz)

Under the Memory it states DDR3-1066/1333 ! is this actualy stating i cannot fit say DDR3-1600 memory when the motherboard can accept this with no overclocking fine.

Thanks in advance as always

It also states the same figures with my CPU the i5 2500K:RAM. Which I have overclocked to 4.5Ghz with 8GB of Corsair CMX8GX3M4A1600C9. RAM. With timings and voltage set and it runs as sweet as a nut.

1600 ram will run fine and permit you to overclock the cpu. Try changing the CPU FSB up by 20% with the memory setting in manual and the memory FSB at 1333. Use CPUZ to confirm the actual ram speed, which will read as 800 for 1600 ram.

Thanks also chub_tor & Gengiscant !

Seems that DDR3-1600 is the max the CPU can utilize. Re overclocking I am familiar with the BIOS but do not know how or what settings to change. The memory is the last thing to order of a new Build using a Gigabyte GA-Z68P-DS3 Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155 Motherboard and Intel I5 2400 CPU

Thanks
