I've tried various Linux distributions on my recent laptop but have always had problems with hardware recognition. I found InstLux and downloaded/unzipped it - it claims to run a Linux installer under XP and transfer XP's hardware settings to Linux (Ubuntu or OpenSUSE). However after unzipping I cannot find any Windows recognised executable files and the instructions for InstLux are non-existent. Does anyone know what to do? It seems a good idea spoiled by assuming a Linux newbie will know what to do.
