Installing Windows XP Upgrade

Is it possible to reformat a hard disk and then load Windows XP Upgrade onto it with only a Windows Me Upgrade disk as proof of a previous operating system being originally installed.
I hope this makes sense. I know you can achieve this if the Windows Me disk is a full version and not the upgrade.

Many thanks

You can only try it - an ME upgrade disc is not proof of a full Microsoft OS though, of course it's useless without a 98 installation but it is still just an upgrade disc.

Thankyou brundle for your quick response.I may well have to try it.

No

I'm about 99% sure this will work - but trying it will find out for sure and quickly.

Yes, I've done it. In my case during the installation process it asked me to put in my W98 CD to check I was eligable to use the upgrade disk.

Marleycat may not have a W98 CD

Marleycat,

I can`t see how this can possibly work but if DieSse
thinks so then it is definitely worth a try.
Keep us posted on the results, hope I am wrong and it works for you.
