Installing windows 7

My windows 7 home premium has gone corrupt and been advised to re-install windows from original disk. Fortunately at this time there is nothing of importance on comp so have nothing to lose. Is it possible to re-install windows over windows with windows already installed, or is there a better method of doing it. If i can do it myself will spare cost of taking to expensive outlet.

Thanks Joni

Yes you can do it and click here is a good guide for installing Windows 7 over an existing OS

I know that you can do a repair which might be a better choice.
And if that does not work properly a reformat would be needed.
But best waiting for some better advice as I am no expert.

Thank you chub_tor and buteman for replying to my request. Now that i know i can install windows over windows i will go for that option as it seems it easiest to carry out. Again , many thanks for taking the trouble to assist me
