Installing vista on PC and Sony laptop

Hi every one,
My friend at work has a PC with XP installed.
He has just bought a new Sony laptop with a 70 day trial version of Vista on it. After 7o day's you then have to pay for a full vista version over internet and down load it onto the laptop. If you don't buy it you then have a restricted version on your lap top.
He wants both machines to have Vista installed on them. The question is if he buy's an upgrade vista disk to upgrade his PC from XP can he then use it to upgrade his laptop as well or will he have to buy two disks for each machine.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The license agreement forbids it.

You need two copies of Vista upgrade to install on two systems.
