installing USB 2.0

I am having problems with lack of power to my usb1.0. It is related to my via chipset, and although I have installed latest 4 in 1 drivers, the problem still occurs where any usb device..printer,modem, scanner etc wont run properly due to lack of power.

It has been said that installing usb2.0 would resolve this issue. Can anyone confirm this before I go out and spend cash on it.?

thanks, Magic

by installing a usb 2 card in a PCI slot you will bypass the embedded usb controllers in the via chipset so the problem should be sorted but for the real cure ditch the AMD/VIA and go with INTEL.

I have the same sort of setup and I was having probs with sharing the two USB ports on the pc. I stuck in a pci USB2 and run 4 twin hubs and plugged in are, digital camera, scanner, mouse printer and have no problems since. I have xp home
