Installing Thomson TG585v7 Wireless Modem

At present I have a USB Speedtouch Modem but want to install the Thomson TG585v7 Wireless Modem instead.
Is it best to uninstall the old modem software completely before I install the new modem or can I get away with leaving the USB Speedtouch modem in place. If so how do I disable it so that it does not conflict with the new modem in any way.
Any advice appreciated.

Normally you don't need to uninstall the USB modem. When you get the new router set up, go to Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connection tab and tick the "Never Dial a Connection" option, click Apply and OK to exit.
