Installing Sony Cybershot

  ventanas 21:55 03 Jun 04

Just got a call from a friend who lives 100 miles away. Bought a Cybershot DSC P32 in Tenerife, and doesn't have a clue how to download the images. I don't have much idea as my cameras are Canons, and anyway I use a card reader.

He is using Win 98 on a P3 with only 64mb ram.
Are card readers available for the Sony memory stick or is it necessary to connect the camera? Also should any drivers be loaded from the CD first before connecting the camera, or vice-versa.

Grateful for any assistance, or anything that will get me out of a long drive.

I would imagine the camera would connect via USB cable, if you check Sony UK site click here#

you will see a tab for Features click coonnectivity in window that pops up for a basic demo.

If your friend is using Win 98 I guess he'd have to install drivers.

(XP would probably recognise the camera without any drivers, it does my Fuji anyway.)

The camera probably came with a disc of software that would allow downloading of images to the PC under Win 98. If I remember correctly from my Windows 98 day It was Win98SE that had full USB support. But someone might correct my failing memory on that!.

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm told there is USB on this machine, so I will suggest the card reader option.

As you say No problems with XP. I just plug in the reader or the camera, and off I go. The only thing that bothers me about this machine is the low memory, have to suck it and see. I assume it will use SD ram and I have plenty left if necessary.

its not necesary to conect the camamra as i find the software hard to use so i put the card in my card reader and use it the way i want!!!

Thanks, that's why I prefer a reader. Makes things much easier.
