i am trying to install a Pentium3 866mhz cpu on an Aopen MX3S motherboard and need to know the way to go about this, thanks

Make sure the BIOS is at least rev1.15 - as this fixed "coppermine" processor handling click here (doesn't say what exactly).

Make sure you have a suitable fan, and you use a very small amount of thermal transfer compound.

Otherwise, there's nothing to do - the CPU should be autodetected for speed and type - and Bob's your uncle.
