Installing multiple SATA drives

Is it just a simple case of adding the 2nd sata drive and starting windows, the drive is formatted and does have an operating system on it but would NOT be the boot drive disk.
I want the drives to operate seperatly as in the old ide master/slave setup.
Any advice on making this a painless experience would be appreciated.

I'm not sure it's guaranteed for all boards/setups but plug your boot/system drive into the lowest-numbered SATA port, slave(s) into the remaining ones. Look in the BIOS for SATA configuration settings too.
