Installing MS Office XP Pro on Vista OS

I am about to order a new laptop and suspect that it will come with Vista OS.As I will be obtaining MS Office 2007 upgrade software, would it be wise or practical to install MS Office Pro onto the Vista machine, register the copy and then carry out the upgrade using the new software?
I am not sure whether Vista will accept the older version of Office or whether a wobbly is to be expected!

"to install MS Office Pro onto the Vista machine, register the copy and then carry out the upgrade using the new software?"

That would seem to be the most sensible way of going about things.

Hope you get on with Office 2007. I can't stand the new interface.

Most people seem to be able to put older versions of MS Office onto Vista, but when I bought a new laptop 5 months ago I couldn't load Office Pro. I had to go out and buy Office 2007, which is not as good in my opinion (Too fancy)
You have nothing to lose by trying!
