I have just bought a new computer with xp Home & tries to install Microsoft Office 97 Pro on it from the disc ,but keep getting the same error message :set up cannot access the required initialization file 'D:\OFFICE\WMS\WINNT\WMSSET32.DLL'.
This disc was installed on my previous computer which was running Windows 98.
Please help!!

If you have two drive bays, are you inserting your disk in the correct one?

Also have you tried

1) cleaning the CD

2) turning off anti-virus

This is a full MS Office installation disk?

Try copying the CD to a folder on your hard drive and run setup from there. You will still need the CD in the drive.

I have two drive bays & tried both of them & the same message keeps appearing. I am starting to think that I probably haven't got the full program somehow. What bothers me is that it seems that this missing "initialization file" is probably another program missing ?

Have you tried what I suggested ? If you get e read error when copying the CD the you've found the problem.
