Hi.

I have a Acer Aspire T120E Desktop AMD Sempron 2600+ 40GB 256MB

And i have just added some extra memory, 512 MB to what i already had 256MB

How can i tell if the new 512 MB ram is installed, and working right on my computer?

I have checked the the Disk Defragmenter part that shows the File System, Capacity, Free space, but it just shows the old 256MB space availability

Can anyone advise

Thanks to all for your time.

Right click my computer and pick properties. System properties should open.

How much ram does it say is installed, next to the cpu.

Or press Ctrl + alt + delete buttons and pick performance. On physical memory (k) what is the total?

It is usually better to add another memory stick the same size as the one installed. Do you have a manual for your mobo?

Is CPU-Z - tells you all sorts of info about your PC, and most importantly what RAM you have installed :O)

Hi.

Thanks to all.

Help much appreciated

Thanks again.

Only if you're running your RAM in a dual-channel mode, in which case you need matched pairs. Semprons do not support dual channel memory, so it makes no difference what size RAM you use (as long as it's under the maximum the motherboard supports).

However, you must remember the RAM will run at the speed of the slowest stick of memory, so a stick of PC3200 next to PC2700 will only run at the speed of the PC2700.
