Installing latest video driver resets refresh rate

I've just updated my Intel VGA drivers (to the latest of Intel site). After the install, text, icons and so on just did not seem as sharp.

Upon closer inspection I found that the install had reset the refresh rate to 75Hz (from 60Hz). Changing back to 60Hz, all was fine again.

Is it usual for a video driver update to reset the refresh rate? Seems a bit odd to me.

It is possible that the drivers install with default settings which, in this case, is a refresh rate of 75Hz. Provided they don't reset the refresh rate each time the PC boots and it remains on 60Hz, there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks mgmcc, but that's exactly the point. It seems odd (to me) that a driver update should reset the settings. Usually software updates maintain the settings previously used (wouldn't life be a pain if every time one updated software everything was reset to defaults).
