Hi- I would like to view DVDs on my trusty Dell Latitude CP- can I just buy a drive and plug it in or do I need installation software? Will that come with it? Is there a lower limit to the HD Gb/RAM needed to support it?

You need a fairly fast machine to watch DVD's successfully.

It depends on the operating system you're using, carolehdb. You should be able to get an external DVD-Rom drive to connect to your laptop, possibly via a USB connection (if your laptop has a USB connection). Your laptop would need to have a processor greater than about 500 MHz to run the DVDs smoothly.

USB not a problem - speed is. At 171MHz I guess I'd have to buy a new machine??
