Installing a Belkin Wireless Modem

Recently purchased a Belkin F5D7632-4 Modem with Wireless-G Router, and reading the installation instruction manual as led to further confusions and head scratching.

The instruction manual shows that you have to transfer information from a previously installed modem (impossible via a USB connection) to the Belkin modem. Belkin states that this is not necessary, and should be ignored, a new independent connection is possible. But how do you go about this, because having installed the Belkin modem, then trying to get a connection via the Belkin "192.168.2.1" in the url address, nothing happens.

A simple plain and easily explained solution will be very welcome and gladly received, by a very confused user and neighbour.

Operating System: Microsoft XP (Home and Pro). Tiscali as the Internet Service Provider.

Would mention that my neighbour had similar problems, and consulting Belkin technical support, he became more confused as to how he could install their similar Belkin modem. In the end he resulted in calling in outside help.

Hi there
Plug in router and connect to a phone socket
Connect a pc to the router via the ethernet port
Open a browser
192.168.2.1 in the location bar that should get you the login screen to the router
passwrod is blank <you should change this>
You then follow the steps outlined in sections 4/5 of the userguide click here
Get back if you hit a problem

Thats the point, I cannot get any further than 192.168.2.1.

I have been in touch with Belkin, and they have confirmed certain things, including that there is a way around this. I was hoping that someone had experienced the same problem, and knew of a easy solution.
