install XP twice on same HDD (2 partitions)??

I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can install XP Pro twice on the same HDD (in the same computer, of course)as long as the OSes reside in separate partitions.

The purpose for doing so would be to test new hardware, software, drivers, etc., on one XP install to see if the new addition works; if it does, you could go ahead and install it on your main version of XP.

Can this be? What about activation? How can I accomplish this?

All suggestions gratefully accepted.

Thank you!

Yes you can do it.

Well you would need another partition, do you have one?

You can activate again like you did [first] the time.

You would first install XP to the other partition, then activate and then go testing. To select which XP to boot into you would select that from the boot menu at startup.
