Install failure

  Trackrat 09:00 19 Dec 05

My friend at work was trying to install a Sim game for his children and got this.
95% installing expansion patch,
component transfer error
The Simsdeluxe ??? installation support ??? could not be installed cannot create a ??? when that file allready exists.
The question marks are because I cannot read his writing and he is running XP home with SP2.
Any help appreciated.

do a restore back to before the attempted install and do it again.

Manually delete all that you find belonging to the SIMS game and try again. It'll be C:\Progams\EA Games most likely.

That's 2 things I'd try.

Minimum System requirements:

Operating system: windows 95/98/xp
Sound card: directx 7.0 compatible
Processor: 233 MHz
Directx: version 7.0
Memory: 64 MB RAM
Input: Keyboard, Mouse
Hard Drive: 1.4GB
CD-DVD: 4 speeds
Graphics: 2MB

In a folder called Program Files\Maxis if it's Sims 1.
Sounds as thought it's attempting to overwrite a file that's in use - reboot and try again.
