insertion of fonts

i have recently downloaded some fonts and when given the chance to open or save , i saved to my desktop. I am having difficulty putting these into the "word" programme..Can anyone tell me how to do this. I am opertating windows xp h.e.

File | Install New Fonts

I have tried the method given but when i get to file it says "no fonts found"

1. Are you navigating to your desktop in the dialog box?


2. If the Fonts you downloaded were zip files you'll have to unzip them before they'll be seen as Fonts.

i have the unzipped files on my desktop then i unzip them and navigate to ms works/fonts in the dialogue that comes up but when i check in word they are not incorporated

start; my computer; C drive; windows; open the font folder also open the folder on your desktop where the new fonts are kept, highlight the fonts you want and drag and drop

Why are you navigating to ms works/fonts? - The Fonts are on your desktop and will be installed into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.
