input V output

My daughter's laptop electric connection cable has been somehow cut and the wires are showing which makes it unsafe to use.
her laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A100-200. so now she cannot charge her battery.
my question is can she use an old electric cable from her previous laptop? the difference being that the input is the same but the output is different.
the Toshiba elec cable has an output of 15v and the old elec cable has an output of 19v. is the old cable usable on this newer Toshiba laptop or not?
thanks in advance

output must be the same

Can he not just cover the wires with electrical insulation tape?

You can get replacement chargers.

yes Woolwell but apparently they are in the region of £50, which is a lot so was trying to save money she hasn't really got.

what about puttig a joint box in the cable, its just like wiring a plug you will get one from your local diy store like theseclick here

windsock could you explain please?

if the cable is just split, as long as you have enough flex at each side cut the cable in two and ethier end fits in the terminal block, if your not sure just take it to the diy shop and they will show you what to do or maybe do it for you its only a 5 min job

Windsock, it's not that kind of cable. it's a core wire i think as in lots of small silver wires twisted together.

sorry my mistake thinking about the plug end not the transformer end might be as well going with fruit bats suggestion
