Infuriating demand for password

I have been trying to set up an additional email account in Outlook 2003 (I use XP SP3). I have followed the instructions religiously and as soon as I try to test it I get the message "Enter network password", when entered the request just returns. I'm now getting a bit teed off, does anyone know of the solution?

What smtp settings are you using? Is it the same for both accounts?

I haven't lost/forgatten the password and I've done all the account settings exactly as my other email accounts (obviously name & passwords are different)

A long shot - completely delete the new account. Reboot and start again.
