I recently changed my 1GHz AMD CPU for a 1.6GHz CPU unfortunately it only shows up as a 1.2GHZ CPU, in the BIOS, Windows XP Pro and Sisoft Sandra. My motherboard is a Microstar 6330 KT7 Turbo thinking it was a BIOS problem I flashed the BIOS but this did not solve the problem. The new BIOS/Motherboard drivers claims to support AMD CPUs up to 2.8GHZ. The local computer store where I purchased the new AMD processor as been no help claiming that AMD CPUs often give incorrect information. Any assistance would be appreciated.

You need to change the FSB setting in the BIOS from 100Mhz to 133Mhz.

The multiplier for this processor is 12 and the FSB 133

ie 133*12 = 1596

You have 100*12 = 1200
