image download problem

  deadbraincell 21:17 30 Sep 03

when trying to download animated gif's using the right click pop up menu, the 'save picture as' dialogue will only allow files to be saved as bmp's. What am I doing wrong or is there a setting that needs changing? Any help much appreciated.

Go to IE > Tools > Internet Options > General tab and click the "Delete Files" button to empty your temporary internet files folder, that should cure the problem, deadbraincell.

The deletion of temp files is a fix for a slightly different problem in IE. To save animated gifs you need to use the "File" "Save as" option to save the relevant web page. Eg in My documents. The animated gif along with all the associated files for that webpage will be save a separate folder within the folder you save the page.Extract it from there and it will be ok.

The temp file fix also works for gifs, Patr100, you don't have to save the whole webpage to get a gif.

Empty your temp files folder, then right click on the Gif and choose "Save Picture as"
