I keep getting a message on my computer telling me that 'this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down'. At this point, I get thrown out of whatever program I am in. What is this and how do I get rid of it?? It's highly annoying.

Sorry, but need quite a bit more than that. Is it just the one program, or does it happen with different ones. There will be a "Details" button on the illegal operation message. Can you click that and post here what it says. Also what version of Windows are you using.

If you have Windows XP, Start, Run, type in

sfc /scannow

and click OK.

If it is Windows 98, just type

sfc

This will check system files. You may be asked for your Windows CD.

GinaG, please post here rather than use email as others can then see your message and offer help.

If every error is an invalid page fault I would suspect a problem with your memory. Some other advice here. click here
