As I answered in your previous thread Office is a security risk but imo that risk for a home user is small.

I think that OpenOffice, which is free, is better than Office 97.

No, as long as you have the updates installed.

We still use office 97 on a lot of PCs at work and some information is commercially confidential.

Later versions are no more or less secure just have more whistles and bells which the majority of us do'nt need.

Would these updates be safe to install on a Vista operating system even though they were dated 1998/99 ? any problems you think ?
