I have IE6 on XP Home SP2 and now every time I open it instead of my chosen home page I get the IE7 "page" asking me to upgrade, as I do not want to install IE7 how do I stop it opening in my browser (IE6)?

I have checked and my home page is still listed as my original choice.

I'm not sure if this will get rid of the ad but you could try click here

Any particular reason to not want to upgrade?

Good morning, early to bed yesterday with a shocking UK! cold.

I don't want to install IE7 yet, I am happy enough with IE6.

I have used the ms programme to block the automatic installation of IE7 it's just this page on starting IE6 I want to get rid of.

johnnyrocker, I have unticked the box on the ms updates page to disable the microsoft updates but it has made no difference! is there another "box"?

Just to restore you to the heading johnnyrocker:-)

It's this cold affecting my brain, well, I think it's the cold!

there is a place somewhere on the ms update page where one can tick ti hide the update notification ( because i have used it with success ) you may have to do a scan for updates then the facility might show, i am quite aware of the heading and wish you better soon.

I have ticked the "hide this update" after scanning on the ms page, it still appears when I open IE6!

Cleared all those, just the same except I have found that starting IE6 from my keyboard web/home button it goes straight to my home page!

Now it's working ok from the shortcut button plus I found I had been logged out of PCA site!!

Maybe deleting temp internet and history data, plus cookies, did the trick.

Ah well, as it is now working OK I'll tick this thread.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated,

Regards,

Sapins.
