IE6 refuses to go anywhere

  spargo 17:58 17 Feb 03

WinXP Pro. My mates computer dials out and connects to his home page but will not go to any other address. It will follow a link on his home page(virgin) but nothing he enters on the address bar.
Has anyone any ideas?

Try to repair IE6 (from add remove progs in the control panel).

Clear cache / cookies.

Unfortunately in XP you cannot repair via Control Panal. Instead click here

Thanks, will try that and let you know any progress.

You could try running setup of IE6 from a CD

VoG™ - thanks for the info.

I thought there was a form of SFC in XP, can you confirm

works in XP. You don't get the dialog boxes that you do in 98 - i.e. it just does whatever and there is no feedback (my experience anyway).

So why can he not run that to repair the system, as IE6 is part of the XP files

  VoG™ 23:29 17 Feb 03

He can run SFC no problem.

In Windows XP, Microsoft Internet Explorer does not appear in Add and Remove Programs.
