IE Windows won't maximize in XP Pro....

Recently, if I minimise a window of IE6 it will not maximize when you click on it from the taskbar - it shoots up to the top left of the screen and disappears! The only way to get them to max is to right click on them in the taskbar and to select maximize or restore. General program and folder windows are unaffected by this problem - so far!

I have AVG which is up-to-date, ZoneAlarm Pro firewall, no viruses, trojans and have scupiously checked the registry and am baffled! I really don't want to do a clean install but am prepared for one! PC is a PIII/500 running 196 Mb RAM, clean install running XP Pro with SP1a.
Any ideas???? Can't find anything on the knowledgebase at MSN.
