IE & Firefox redirecting from searches

I have Windows XP and whenever I do a search on either IE or Firefox I am being redirected to misc. web pages. I have run my AV, my registry prog. Ad-Aware and Hijackthis and I'm not finding anything out of the ordinary.

I was going to do a repair from my Windows XP disc, BUT the computer will not boot from the disc on start-up.

to do a repair you may need to go into the bios to change to boot from disc first

If your AV is Avast try a scheduled boot-time scan; click here
Personally I don't use the advanced options but move whatever infections manually.
If not Avast then try running you AV in safe mode.

I'm using AVG. I will try re-running in safe mode.

How do I go into the bios to have it boot from cd first?
