IE error/problem

Had a crash, formatted C:drive, loaded Win XP. Had problem with Internet Explorer, thought I had it sorted until I started geting this type of message appearing.

Fruitbat. Have already used Adaware and Spybot S&D. Tried the sfc /scannow suggested in your 'link'. Do you think it is worth trying the other links you suggested.

Have just loaded A2 and ran it. No malware found.
Other suggestions please.

Check HOSTS file

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS

Right click and open in Notepad.

Things appear to have got worse.I downloaded, installed and ran EWIDO (one of Fruitbat suggested prog.) When I logged onto PC Advisor
this evening I Got the error message as shown in original posting but with following details:-

Rename the hosts file to hosts.txt and restart your PC.
