IE connection problem

  wildtrout 11:46 17 Feb 04

Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.110615
Mozilla Firebird .7
Win2K Pro. SP4
Dialup ISP

When I try to access Internet Explore from my desktop I now get a pop up telling me “No connection to the Internet is currently available. To view Internet content that has been saved on your computer, click Work Offline”
“Click Try Again to attempt to connect”

If I click Try Again I just get my home page in the address bar and “The page cannot be displayed”

With Mozilla I get “Error 623. The system could not find the phone book entry for this connection”

I can connect by going to my dial up connections logging on and then opening IE or Mozilla.

What could have gone wrong?

Under Internet Options/Programs is 'IE should check to see if it is the default browser' checked, and under Connections is 'never dial a connection' checked?
