I have recently installed IE7 and checked the box allowing the recommended settings, but not would like to alter them, how do I do it.
I would like to change my home page but currently this is not possible as it is greyed out. Some of my Favourite sites are blocked etc.

Firstly, when you go to
tools > internet options
You cant change the homepage??? Mines running on default settings, and i can change mine.

Sounding from things, your firewall seems to be the issue here, what firewall do you have? also it wouldnt do any harm to run a spyware/adware scan, just in case anythings creeped on the computer and is purposfully getting int he way of things.

I found that I can change the settings from the tools bar on IE, before I was right clicking on the IE icon from the start menu, from which I can do very little.
I use Zone alarm and regulary use Adaware as well.

It seems to be OK now, but thanks anyway, will see how I get on .
