IE 6 SP1 dll problem

I'm having trouble with the msieclick here which is loaded into IE5.5 from the WinMe CD. This default version is 5.50.4134.100 and according to Microsoft is buggy!

I now use IE6 SP1 for WinMe which is playing up occasionally, in that my broadband connection stops and clicking around on web pages sometimes freezes IE6. The dial-up box shows it is trying to connect over and over again, but I have to reboot to connect normally.

After exhaustive attempts at various remedies, which included reverting back to IE5.5 and then reinstalling IE6, I finally discovered that this dll in Windows System has the SAME version number. Repeated full installs and repairs of IE6 fail to update this dll. Three critical updates for IE6 SP1 also fail to download from Windows Update.

When trying to repair IE5.5 I get a message: 'version 5.50.4807.2300 or higher is needed' and the repair is unsuccessful. I cannot find this later dll for download anywhere on the internet.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. TC.

I'll try that version after renaming the existing file in Windows System. Got a feeling it may not work with WinMe OS but it's worth a try. TC.

My problem now is I cannot download updates from WU or my desktop. Get the message: This update requires OE6 SP1 to be installed. That's strange because SP1 is obviously what I downloaded from Microsoft!

Could someone with IE6 SP1 installed please check their version numbers, obtained by clicking the Help tag in IE and OE. My versions are IE6: 6.00.2800.1106 and OE6: 6.00.2800.1123

Thanks. TC.

Anyone online running IE6 SP1? If so, could you please post your version numbers as requested above. Thanks. TC.

Am now off to try and sort out the updating problems. TC.
